How lucky I am!

Aug 22, 2022

Good Morning everyone.  I’m Lynn, your adulting coach. I just want to share with you how amazed I am at the gift that I've been given with my family. I really want you to understand that this has been quite a long time that I've been evolving the way that I think about helping my family members practice confident adulting. At first I thought, okay, we can do this. That's okay. And that's when I did what I always had been taught to do and used the thought patterns that I've been trained to do, and I did my best to organize everything and put together a plan. Then I realized that there was a lot of good in doing those actions because by helping my kids, by guiding my kids toward adulthood, I was in fact evolving the way that I practiced adulthood.

It really wasn’t until 2016 when I got so sick and realized that I wasn't taking care of myself. And that things really had to change, that I found Pema Chodron’s Don't Bite the Hook and Thought Work.

And that's when I think I really was able to move into this as a gift because now I realized that all of the challenges that come with parenting the kids that we get, first of all, we're lucky they're alive. And I know that because our daughter died in 1988. So we're really lucky that they're alive. And no matter what size shape form they come in, or no matter what they present to us, that it's always an opportunity for us to grow and uplevel our own adulting.

So that's what I like to teach inside of the Art of Adulting is not only how to help guide our kids, but also how to listen more carefully to ourselves and really create a life that we love that works.

There are a few things that I'm working on right now. I can't wait to introduce them to you and I'm looking forward to meeting with all my clients this week and other folks who are in the Art of Adulting.

I hope you have a wonderful last couple of weeks of summer. Bye for now.
