Hi, it's Lynn, your adulting coach and founder of The Art of Adulting where we increase independence with our autistic graduates.
Phil Stutz, the psychiatrist, author and subject of the Netflix Documentary STUTZ, suggests that we have three inevitable aspects in our lives: pain fear and work. How we outsmart those struggles is how we create the life we want.
These seven essential adulting habits help us manage the struggles that come up inevitably in every life. We practice them every day and then circle around and practice them again the next week.
On Sunday, we practice acceptance so that we're firmly rooted in where we are now. We're ready to take our next steps.
On Monday, we believe. We notice where we are on the "It's impossible > It's possible > It's inevitable continuum. That's what helps us know what work we need to do with our mindset.
On Tuesday, we connect with that mindset and our bodies, really paying attention to the thoughts that we're creating that Inspire the emotions that flavor our actions and create our results.
On Wednesday, we anchor in what matters most to us because the research suggests that the more often we are acting consistent with what matters most to us and doing the actions that are going to get us the life that we want that we are more likely to flourish.
On Thursday, we notice our thoughts and what emotions those are creating that really do drive our actions and our results. We choose the ones that work best.
We think on purpose on Friday. We are ready to examine what actions we are taking and which we're not taking so that we know where we need to put our energy.
On Saturday we partner with our caring Circle because we know we can't do our life alone. We know that we need the support and love and connection. That's what we're wired for. We connect with the people who really get us and will support what we want.
Those seven adulting habits will help us increase Independence and build the life that we want especially for our autistic graduates so that we know that they will be they will flourish on their own someday.
Bye for now!
