Get More Done Together
We have 6 adult children, 26 - 53, all alternative learners, in our blended family. Many are autistic.
"It seemed too good to be true. It wasn't. For a couple of decades we had been looking for help for our son who is on the autism spectrum – with limited success. Until we discovered Lynn. She has had a profoundly positive effect on our autistic son’s emotional state and development. She helped him build his confidence and capability as well as our family's overall emotional health and stability." "
"After looking at Coach Lynn's life experience with her family, I knew she would be a great mentor for my granddaughter. She has learning differences, high anxiety, and is super shy! As a retired teacher, I knew she would benefit from a person with Lynn's background. Our family can see and hear the difference in her emotional, social and cognitive growth. She looks forward to her weekly meetings with Coach Lynn! She seems to have a positive attitude toward her future! She is happier, more secure, and is presently working on digital graphic arts."
"My adult son was done with doctors, with therapists, with teachers. He felt they all let him down and things were not getting better. Lynn is not a doctor, not a therapist. She is a coach and a mom. She listens to my son, without judgment, lets him talk. That means everything to him. Lynn brings decades of experience raising neuro-divergent kids and helping them blossom into neuro-divergent adults. She gives him practical tools and encouragement. He leaves their sessions with a smile on his face and a plan for the next day. And that means everything to me. "

"Lynn has ever so patiently over the course of the year moved my son noticeably along in personal hygiene, financial awareness, and educating him in the power of his thoughts. We would have been hooped without her, especially during this last year of full on challenges. I find Lynn's Today’s Thinking Videos to be super helpful reminders with practical suggestions around how to reframe and make it through the challenges that present themselves throughout each day."
"I highly recommend working with Lynn! We didn’t know what steps to take for our adult son because he was diagnosed after high school. We of course want him to be financially independent and a functional member of society. Lynn made us aware of Georgia Vocational Rehab and how to get our son diagnosed “in the system “. She gave us hope. I have learned so much from her emails and modules. She has made me more aware of how I communicate with my son and with myself. It is never too late to learn something new!"
"Lynn is fantastic! She worked with me and my son (on the autism spectrum) to help him increase his adult independence. She quickly developed a great rapport with him, helping him see things in new ways and encouraging him to recognize how changing his thoughts could help him overcome some of the stumbling blocks to greater success in his life. Lynn is insightful, enthusiastic, and full of workable ideas that she formulates after truly listening to understand the complex issues at hand. It was great to have her in our corner! Your state may reimburse you for some of the cost of this coaching program.
In New York State, where we live, my autistic young adults qualify for self-directed funds through the Office of People With Developmental Disabilities. Their budget allows $500 per year per child for coaching of parent(s), spouse and advocates involved in the person's self-directed services. Your state may have similar allowances.
Google "developmental disability" in "your state" to contact the agency that could help you.
In addition, a Chartered Special Needs Consultant in your state should be able to help you navigate the federal and state benefits available to support your autistic young adult that you already pay for through income taxes.
"Cyclical grief can strike at any time and leave one debilitated with depression. Lynn's course and coaching helps you through those times, by giving you the tools to cope. Personally, this year, as my 'child' became an 'adult' and fell off the 'services cliff,' depression hit hard. Although I am a very strong person, I was spiraling down a very dark path. "What happens when I am gone?" "What is his future really going to look like?" "Am I EVER going to be happy again?" Lynn helped me handle these thoughts and keep them on a track of what I can do, and what could be possible, rather than assuming the worst. Not that every day is good, but the coping techniques provided in her course can help you maintain your sanity as you try to do the best for yourself and your child."
"I happened to receive Lynn’s invitation to join her course through Facebook shortly after Covid started. I have to admit, I didn’t do much research beforehand about her, this program or any other options, but my husband and I were desperate for the support of another who had experienced the chaos of living in a home with a VERY unique young adult on the spectrum. So, we took a chance, and, WOW! Did we ever connect with a gold mine! We have been to several therapists over the years, but few who have the actual, lived experience of sharing life with young adults on the spectrum like Lynn has. (She is not surprised by anything!) In the beginning, she was anxious to get us started with “her” program, but probably the best part of meeting with her each week, is that as time wore on, she put aside her own agenda to just listen and be present to where we were at with our daughter on any given day, and throughout a VERY challenging period of time, this was an invaluable support to us! Eventually we got around to her program, but it wasn’t until we felt heard and understood. Lynn has a solid understanding of how the Autistic brain works differently from a neurotypical brain and a positive way of explaining it to those who are supporting them so the whole family can grow in their understanding and move towards “living a life that they love!” One of the most powerful strategies that Lynn taught us, was how to complete Mind Maps in order to observe and change our own thinking about the situations we deal with on a daily basis. This in turn really began to shift our own thinking as parents and in our relationships with each other. We have great admiration for Lynn’s ability to continue growing, reflecting and evolving daily in her own practice and knowledge. She has been a tremendous example to us! We would highly recommend her support, empathy and knowledge to anyone who is struggling to better understand themselves and how their thinking impacts their relationships with those that they love!"
"It is difficult to find words adequate to express my admiration and my gratitude for the work Lynn has done (and will continue to do) with my son and with me. Lynn is a person of great compassion and deep intelligence who has devoted herself to helping young people on the Autism spectrum and their families. Lynn is always seeking to expand her knowledge by reading books and articles on relevant subjects from the realms of science, sociology, psychology, philosophy, religion, education, (and more) as well as by attending courses by experts who have concrete solutions to offer. All of this makes Lynn a tremendous resource to all her clients. Even more impressive, in my opinion, is Lynn’s profound wisdom, culled from real life experience. And, Lynn delivers her wise and powerful lessons with sincere kindness. She has really touched our lives in more ways than one, because we know that Lynn cares deeply and is prepared to do the hard work over what will likely be a long, bumpy road. There is no question that progress is being made, however, and that my son is on his way to “living the life he wants to lead.” That concept alone, a cornerstone of the comprehensive and practical program that Lynn Davison has developed, speaks volumes about why any parent of a struggling young adult should seek Lynn’s guidance. As my son returns to his college campus for the fall semester, we both are grateful that he will continue to meet regularly with Lynn, as she will be a source of true understanding and unwavering support in good times and bad! In my son’s own words: “Lynn provides good methods for organization and success. Talking to her makes me feel clearer...it’s, you know, really like chaos to clarity.” "
After all, you've tried a lot of approaches that didn't produce the results you wanted.
Absolutely, as you’ll have more time to practice the skills with them before they move on. Encouraging our young adults to decide what’s essential in a life they love, starting with what they want in each domain and what they’ll do to get it, helps them build self-confidence. With a mindset of, “Let’s figure this out together,” we can encourage experimentation so they’ll get the very next, tiny step done to build momentum.
As long as I am alive and kicking.
